Underground Railroad (UGRR)
The Underground Railroad Bicycle Route memorializes the Underground Railroad, a network of clandestine routes by which African freedom seekers attempted to escape slavery before and during the Civil War. The history of this remarkable period comes alive as you pedal along the 1,997.1-mile corridor that traces the Underground Railroad route from the Deep South to Canada, passing points of interest and historic sites.

Bike Trail Directions: Take an 11.6 trip along Eagle Creek on scenic one-lane road (little or no traffic) to the historic Eagle Creek Bridge. One section of road says closed to through traffic but bikes and walkers will have no problem.
- Start from center of town
- Travel East on US 52
- Immediately after leaving Ripley turn left on Scoffield Road
- Follow for several miles and then left on Eagle Creek Road
- At the T-intersection turn left on North Pole Road and then head uphill to the bridge
Car Directions: From Ripley go north on U.S. 68 1 mile then turn right on North Pole Road (C.R. 15) for 3 miles.

54-acres of wildflowers, mature woods, and stunning waterfalls. Kope Hollow Preserve is geologically significant—featuring excellent examples of the Kope rock formation—and is a place where a unique variety of native wildflowers grow. This land lies on a hillside and is home to hundreds of native plant species as well as a remarkable variety of fauna. This landscape in Southwest Ohio gives us a window into what the state looked like 500 years ago.

Eagle Creek Wildlife Area is a 2,341-acre state wildlife area located 5 miles east of Ripley. Hunting and Trapping in the Eagle Creek Wildlife Area is by Permit Only from September 1 to May 31.
